Through the city we're ringing your doorbells.
        Trick or treating, candy eating,
        Gooey stuff in our hair,
But the most fun is shrieking out loud,
        "Shivery yells! Shivery yells!"
        That's the Halloween nitty-gritty.
"Moan and Groan. Leave us alone.
        Halloween's just once a year."

        (tune:Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer)

Baked in a pie, they taste mighty fine,
        But have your heard,
Of a pumpkin quite absurb as...?
        Humphrey the Blue-Nosed Pumpkin
        Had a very obvious nose.
And if you ever saw it,
You might even say it shows.
        All of the other pumpkins,
Used to laugh and call him names.
        They never let poor Humphrey
        Play in any pumpkin games.
        Then one foggy Hallow's Eve,
        The Great Pumpkin did say,
"Humphrey, with your nose so blue,
You'll make all the ghosts say BOO!"
Then all the pumpkins loved him,

        Beware the Halloween Star.
        Oh...oh...
Star of darkness, star of fright.
        Star of every gruesome sight.
        West winds howling, cats a-yowling,
Let us play some tricks tonight!

Ghosties We Have Heard on High
(tune: Angels We Have Heard on High)
Ghosties we have heard on high,
        Groaning horribly o'er the plains.
        And the witches in reply,
        Cacklin' their own eerie strains:
        Boooooooooooooooooooooo
        Listen to our cry --
        Boooooooooooooooooooooo
On this Halloween Night we cry.
        Spirits why this jubilee?
        Why your ghostly tunes prolong?
        What these gruesome tidings be,
        Which inspire your ghastly song?
        Boooooooooooooooooooooo
        Listen to our cry --
        Boooooooooooooooooooooo
On this Halloween Night we cry.
        (Repeat last verse and chorus.)

        Deck the Halls

fa la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our strange apparel,
fa la la, la la la, la la la.
        Troll the ancient Halloween carol,
fa la la la la, la la la la.
See the goblins rise before us,
fa la la la la, la la la la.
As we sing the Halloween chorus,
fa la la la la, la la la la.
        Follow them as they ascend,
fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Join with all your loony friends,
fa la la la la, la la la la.

        Spirit Wonderland
        (tune: Winter Wonderland)

'Neath the moon, all is glistening.
A real scary sight, we're happy tonight.
        Waitin' in a spirit wonderland.
Black cats yowl, can you hear 'em?
Ghosties howl, don't you fear 'em.
A real scary sight, we're happy tonight.
        Waitin' in a spirit wonderland.
In the streets, we're begging for some candy.
We've been waiting for this night all year.
        We've tried to embarrass everybody,
And to make a costume filling you with fear.
        Later on, while we're eatin'
What we got trick or treatin'.
        We'll share all our sacks
        Of Halloween snacks,
        Waitin' in a spirit wonderland.

Over the moon without any hitches,
        Hi, ho, Halloween it here.

        ONE HALLOWEEN NIGHT
The wicked witch hopped on her broom
She cracked aloud then flew from the room
The old black cat gave one big yawn
He open his eyes and sang until dawn
The blinking owl didn't stop to stare
He gave a great hoot and flew through the air
The very black bat drank bright green brew
He flew from the cave and shouted Yahoo
The scary ghost began to mew
Then he remembered he better say BOO
        Jack-O-lantern just winked and smiled
How great to be out on a night so wild
What a surprize Oh what a fright
And it all happened One halloween night

        The Pumpkin On The Vine
        (tune: Farmer in the Dell)
        The pumpkin on the vine,
        The pumpkin on the vine,
I picked the one that weighed a ton,
And that’t the one that’s mine.

        I made two funny eyes,
        A mouth that’s oversize
The other gook my mother took,
        For baking pumpkin pies.

        The pumpkin on the vine,
        The pumpkin on the vine,
I picked the one that weighed a ton,
And that’s the one that’s mine.

As The Witches Go Flying Along
(tune: As the Caissons Go Marching Along)
Way up high, in the sky, you can see them going by,
As the witches go flying along.
Here and there, in the air, you can see them everywhere,
As the witches go flying along.
With a zoom, zoom, zoom, everyone is on their broom,
        Singing a Halloween song.
In the bright moonlight, it’s really quite a sight,
As the witches go flying along.

        Halloween has come today
        all the little pumpkins say
we will laugh and dance and play
        Halloween’s the pumpkin’s day.

        THE SMALLEST WITCH
The smallest witch you ever did see
just peeked through the window and looked at me
I waved once or twice but very soon,
she jumped three times and flew to the moon

        GHOST OF JOHN
Have you seen the ghost of John?
Long white bones with the rest all gone
        ooooohhhhh......ooooohhhhhhh....
wouldn’t it be chilly with no skin on????

        THREE WITCHES
Here come 3 witches ariding, ariding, ariding
here come 3 witches ariding, whibeldy, whobbeldy, whoop
where are you witches agoing, agoing, agoing
where are you witches agoing, whibeldy, whobbeldy, whoop
we’re going trick or treating, or treating, or treating
we’re going trick or treating, whibeldy, whobbeldy, whoop

        TRICK OR TREAT CHANT
        Knock, knock
        Trick or treat
        Knock, then knock some more.

        Knock, knock
        Truck or treat
Let’s see who’s at the door!
IDEA: You could do this as a Halloween game. A few children could leave the room, and , one at a time, knock on the door and come back in. They could be hidden with a sheet and respond: “It is I at your door!” The children could then guess the Friendly Ghost by his/her voice.

        A Little Witch
A little witch in a pointed cap
On my door when rap, rap, rap.
When I went to open it,
        She was not there.
She was riding on her broomstick
        High up in the air!

        Halloween is Here
        (tune: Farmer in the Dell)
        Oh, Halloween is here!
        Oh, Halloween is here!
With costumes on we’ll walk around
We’ll knock on doors all over town,
        When Halloween is here!

        Hello Halloween!
        Hello witches, hello ghosts,
        Hello pumpkins on the posts.
        Hello goblins and black cats,
        Hello skeletons, hello bats!
        Hello owls and hello moon!
        Halloween is coming soon!!

        Mother Goblin’s Lullaby
Go to sleep, my baby goblin,
        hushaby, my dear of dears,
        if you disobey your mother,
she will twist your pointed ears.

        Little goblin, stop complaining,
time for all jour eyes to close,
if you make your mother angry,
she will bite your tiny nose.

        Slumber sweetly till tomorrow,
        do not worry, Mother’s near,
        dream of demons weirdly screaming,
        hushaby, my goblin dear.

I Am a Ghost Who’s Lost His Boo
I am a ghost who’s lost his boo,
my boo is gone from me,
and I’m without a single clue
to where my boo might be.
It makes me mope, it makes me pout,
        it almost makes me moan,
a ghost is not a ghost without
a boo to call his own.

My boo was piercing ,fierce and loud,
I used to strut and boast,
        for I was positively proud
        to be a gruesome ghost.
But now that I’m without a boo,
        I find it rather weird,
There’s little for a ghost to do
        whose boo has disappeared.

Although I hover here and there,
        and haunt a hundred rooms,
it seems there’s no one I can scare
        unless my boo resumes.
I am a ghost who lost his boo,
        alas! A boo I lack,
if you should find my boo,
then you had better give it back.

Both poems were written by Jack Prelutsky
        LITTLE WITCH BUMPKIN
        Little Witch Bumpkin
        Sat on her pumpkin
        Eating three meals a day.

        When down came a spider
        Who sat down beside her
        And frightened Witch Bumpkin away!

        The Fat Old Witch
The strangest sight I’ve ever seen.
Was a fat old witch in a flying machine.
        The witch flew high.
        The witch flew low.
        The witch flew fast
        And the witch flew slow.
She circled all around the town,
Then turning left and turning right
        She disappeared into the night.

That fat old witch in the flying machine
Was the strangest sight I’ve ever seen.
Of course, it happened on Halloween.
Act it out. Be dramatic. Talk about opposites. Have fun.

        Have You Seen.....?
        sung to “The Muffin Man”
Have you seen the pumpkin man,
The pumpkin man, the pumkin man
Have you seen the pumpkin man,
Who lives in the pumpkin patch?

Have you seen the old black witch,
The old black witch, the old black witch,
Have you seen the old black witch,
Who lives in the haunted house?

Have you seen the scary ghost,
The scary ghost, the scary ghost,
Have you seen the scary ghost,
Who lives in the old ghost town?

Have you seen the big black bat,
The big black bat, the big black bat,
Have you seen the big black bat,
Who lives in the cold dark cave?

Yes, we have. We’ve seen these things,
Seen these things, seen these things,
Yes, we have, we’ve seen these things,
        We saw them on Hallowe’en!

        (tune: little teapot)
        Halloween is coming
        I like it the most
        You can be a goblin
        I’ll be a ghost

Sitting on a gate post Halloween night.
Number one siad, “I see a witches hat.”

Number three said, “I see a scary ghost.”

        Picked a Pumpkin
(to the tune of “Oh, My Darlin’ Clementine”)
Pick a pumpkin, pick a pumpkin,
        Pick a pumpkin just now
I just now picked a pumpkin
        Picked a pumpkin just now

Cut the top off, cut the top off
Cut the top off just now
I just now cut the top off,
Cut the top off just now

Scooooop the seeds, out, scoooop the seeds out,
Scoooop the seeds out just now
I just now scoooped the seeds out
Scooooped the seeds out just now

Carved a face in it, carved a face in it
Carved a face in it just now
I just now carved a face in it
Carved a face in it just now

Stick a candle in it, stick a candle in it

        Boo Treats
Make 2 treats and two “BOO” signs and secretly deliver to 2 neighbors, along with this poem, and note....

air is cool, the season fall
Soon Halloween will come to all

The spooks are after things to do
In fact, a spook brought this to you

Boo is a shield, from witching hour
Just hang it up and watch its power

On your front door is where it works
It wards off spooks and scary jerks

The treat, that came with crypted note
are yours to keep, enjoy them both

The power comes when friends like you
will copy this, and make it TWO

Then others here among our friends
will give warm fuzzies that will not end

We’ll all have smiles upon our face
No one will know who “BOO”ed whose place

Just one short day to work your spell
or a big ZAP will strike your tail

And don’t forget a nifty treat
like something cute or something sweet

Please join the fun, let’s really hear it
and spread some “BOO”s and Halloween spirit!

        Directions:
        1) Enjoy your treat
        2) Place your BOO on your front door
        3) Now you have 24 hours to copy this twice, make 2 treats and two BOO’s and secretly deliver to 2 neighbors who do not have a BOO on their front doors.
        4) Then watch how far this spreads by Halloween

The third one said,”But we don’t care!”
The fourth one said, “Let’s run and run and run”.
The fifth one said, “I’m ready for some fun!”
        Wooooo, went the wind
        And out went the light
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

        (tune; Twinkle, Twinkle)
Ghosts and goblins, cats and bats,
We’re not afraid of this or that.
        They are only make-believe,
        Funny costumes on Halloween.
Ghosts and goblins, cats and bats,
We’re not afraid of this or that.

Coming to town, coming to town
Old Mother Witch is coming to town
        So early in the morning.

This is how she scares you BOO...
Old Mother Witch is going away...

        Witches goblins big black cats.
        Funny faces round about
        people laugh and people shout....BOO!

Up against the moon so high
        see the ugly witches fly
        Pumpkin faces laugh at me
I’m as scared as I can be.

There was a small witch on a Halloween night
Who wanted to see if her hat was on right
She looked in the mirror and gave a loud scream
For she really looked like a very bad dream.

Jack’olantern...jackolantern you are such a funny sight
As you sit by the window looking out at the night
You were once an orange pumpkin growing on a slender vine
Now you are a jackolantern see the candle light shine

        Up in the Graveyard
(Sung to: Up on the Housetop)
Up in the graveyard on the hill
We get such a horrible chill
        In such a spooky atmosphere
Waiting till goblins and ghosts appear

        Moan, moan, moan
        Who wouldn’t groan?
        Moan, moan, moan
        Who wouldn’t groan?

Up in the graveyard on the hill
        If the ghosts don’t getcha
        then the goblins will

        Halloween Wonderland
        (Sung to: Winter Wonderland)
        Doobells ring, are you listenin’?
Ding, dong, ding, are you listenin’?
        The lights are all out
        There’s no one about
Things aren’t working out the way we planned

Last year they were handing out real money
Caramel apples, popcorn balls and gum
Are they gone or are they merely sleeping?
Lets just keep on ringing till they come

Kids run by. We’re still waiting
        This is so aggravating
        With no one in sight
        We’ve wasted the night
        Next time we’ll just o
        where lights are on
